Italian-born violist Shira Majoni grew up in a musical family, and from a very early
age expressed her passion and interest for languages, music being one of them. In
2013 she was awarded Top Prize for viola and Special Prize for Best Performance of
an Israeli Composition at the Aviv Competition in Israel. Her most recent
performances include recitals and chamber music concerts at Caramoor, Tel Aviv
Museum and Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute Tour in spring 2016.
Miss Majoni has made appearances at the Jerusalem International Chamber Music
Festival, Ravinia Festival, Caramoor Rising Stars and Open Chamber Music at
Prussia Cove amongst others where she collaborated with artists such as Miriam
Fried, Ralph Kirshbaum, Daishin Kashimoto, Wolfram Christ and Rainer Honeck to
name a few.
Shira graduated from the Jerusalem Music Centre and holds a Bachelor in Music from
the Buchman-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv, where she studied with renowned
Israel Philharmonic Orchestra concertmaster, Chaim Taub. She is a recipient of
excellence scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, the Barenboim
Said Foundation and the New England Conservatory, where she recently graduated
with a Masters degree as a student of Kim Kashkashian.
Miss Majoni is currently enrolled in an Artist Diploma degree at the Barenboim-Said
Academy in Berlin, with Yulia Deyneka (Principal Viola, State Opera).
