It is not unusual for the students of Memphis College of Art to listen to music while they pursue their creative passion. But over the last few months, thirty students have been listening to specific classical music for their creative inspiration. Just as the great rivers of the world have inspired the world’s great composers, so many of the world’s great artists have drawn inspiration from music. IRIS Orchestra and Memphis College of Art decided to give it a try.
IRIS Orchestra will host a month-long exhibition at GPAC of artwork created by students of Memphis College of Art that responds to the Mississippi River, or directly to the music on the February program. This exhibition and sale has been juried by the professors of MCA and promises to be creative and exciting.
The art opening is free to IRIS subscribers and friends of IRIS. It will be Thursday, February 2nd at 5:30 PM in the GPAC Lobby.
