Ashley Vines is a violist and teaching artist from Philadelphia. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance and was a viola student of Renard Edwards. She was a recipient of the 2016-2017 IRIS Artist Fellowship, a residency program where she performed in a chamber ensemble with a focus on community outreach, and taught as a community engagement fellow through Memphis Music Initiative at Caldwell-Guthrie Elementary School. Currently, Ashley is a violin and viola teaching artist with Musicopia, Philadelphia Youth Orchestra’s Tune Up Philly, and is on faculty at Temple University’s Music Preparatory Division as director of string ensembles at the Community Music Scholars Program. She is also a registered Suzuki instructor who studied under Marilyn O’Boyle, Martha Shackford and Linda Fiore. Ashley is a member of IRIS Orchestra and as freelance musician, she has performed with groups such as Bay Atlantic Symphony, Symphony in C, Riverside Sinfonia, Eboni Strings, and more. Ashley has also played in masterclasses with artists such as the Nokuthula Nqwenyama, and members of the Emerson, Ceruti and Aizuri String Quartet.
