Marcos Vinicius Miranda dos Santos is taking a hiatus from the pursuit of his doctorate degree in violin performance at the University of Alabama. Born in Bauru, Brazil, Santos spent most of his life close to home. When he won a national violin competition, he earned a scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi to pursue a master’s degree in performance violin. Santos aspires to be a university professor in Brazil and to instill within others the passion for music which has driven him. As an IRIS Artist Fellow, Santos is teaching 1st through 5th grade students at Caldwell-Guthrie Elementary School.
